Project overview

AltarFruit Adventure is a short 2D pixel platformer. The player controls a masked tribal apprentice who must collect 26 sacred fruits across jungle ruins and deliver them to an ancient altar before time runs out, preventing the forest spirit from falling into an eternal sleep.

Built with Unity 2D and C#, the project establishes a complete gameplay loop around timed collection, platform movement, enemy avoidance and completing the ritual.

Level and mechanics

The level moves from low ground deeper into the ruins, combining static platforms, moving platforms and bounce pads to create different movement rhythms. The player can run, jump and double-jump. Boars and spiked turtles create pressure along the route, while three lives and a countdown timer make every mistake carry a clear cost.

To keep the objective easy to understand, the interface places the hourglass and lives in the top-left corner and the progress for four fruit types in the top-right. The ritual only succeeds after every fruit has been collected and the player reaches the altar.

From concept to completion

I first drew the level layout in Illustrator, then built the platforms, collisions, enemy patrols, collection system and win-or-lose logic in Unity. The start, failure and victory screens all respond to the altar's expression and the character's state, so feedback stays inside the world rather than becoming a generic pop-up.

This was my first opportunity to organise a story concept, level path, UI, sound and scripting into a small but complete WebGL game.
